Stay up to date with the latest new in food safety.
This last Saturday I had the privilege to attend the Have a Heart Ranch Vegan BBQ. My first thought when walking into this ranch was its beauty. The landscape was perfectly manicured and the animals appeared well taken care of and content. With all this I was distracted by the scent of the delicious food being made.
There were a few choices of vegan cuisine. I started with the food truck, Word of Mouth, (https://www.wordofmouthtruck.com). I had the Mac-n-Cheese Bits. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and hot and gooey on the inside.
From there I moved onto a food booth run by the ranch. I had meatless tacos made with a delicious ground sunflower meat substitute that was accompanied by crisp veggies served on a lettuce leaf for the shell. The meet was perfectly seasoned and all the ingredients used blended perfectly together. I had a baked potato from the same booth that had a vegan substitute for sour cream that was so creamy and rich the first thing I did when I got home was searched Amazon for a purchase. Finding authentic dairy substitutes are hard to find so I was eager to discover this product.
The last culinary experience I had was Vegan Dots (https://www.vegandots.com/) cookies and cream flavor, which let me tell you was the best and only way anyone should finish a meal like this, the flavor put by taste buds in to an enjoyable over load.
Overall, I had a lot of fun and the ranch is doing such great work I was more than happy to be a part of it and will be watching for all future events. I enjoyed the food so much that when I returned home I slept more soundly then I have in weeks because of the guilt free food journey I had completed. The Have a Heart Ranch does allow volunteers to be a part of the wonderful experience of helping animals, and so I leave you with this, if you ever get a chance to be a part of the events they host you will not be disappointed.
